Awakenings & Survival

A quick little note from beyond the chair.

Being completely real for a second… sometimes I look around the salon, look at my booking calendar and realize how easy it is to get wrapped up in just being “Billi the Hairstylist” , and completely forget how to breathe, and just be “Billi.”

As a lot of you've been sittin in my chair for a while you know we don't keep this surface level, but we are cultivating real connection. You aren't just clients, you are my community, my guests, my friends, and many of you feel a lot like family - Thank You.

Today we are pulling back the curtain a bit, as to being just “Billi”.

I think a lot of people think running a salon suite means I have it all figured out.

I don't.

If you've read my older posts or been sitting in my chair for a while, you know I always openly struggle with consistency, managing chaotic schedules, and fighting off that loud inner voice that tells me I am falling behind.

I am a mom.

A wife.

A daughter, sister, friend…

An evolving business owner, and someone constantly trying to choose growth over perfection. I believe in showing up as exactly as I am - as you are-  messy bun, raw truths and all. My goal behind the chair has never been just about making your hair look pretty: it's about building a space where we can both be unapologetically ourselves.

As a part of consistent growth and showing up authentically me, I have spent the last 4 months diving deep into kundalini energy practices, exploring more of who I am on a deeper level….. and let me tell you it has been one hell of a ride. For real tho, it is one thing to talk about self care, but it's a whole different ballgame when you start doing the actual internal energy work. It's been bringing up so much clarity and forcing me to shift how I protect my peace and honestly, it's completely changing how I show up in the studio. It has made me realize the more I ground myself, the more high-vibe, peaceful energy I can give right back to you when you are relaxing in my chair. I'm still processing and integrating all of the internal shifts, but we can totally chat about it at your next appointment if you would like -

A quick update on Van

So many of you check in on my son, Van, so often it warms my entire heart. As you know navigating his journey to become a U.S. Marine has been a series of waves and major shifts, having you all along on the journey with us has been wonderful. We have just received an update from him and his drill instructors that I am so excited to pass along. His femur has healed and they have finally moved him back into a recruit platoon. We are still pending the specifics but we are back in the thick of things and preparing for graduation in August. Thank you all so much for riding these waves with me, sending your texts, and keeping the good vibes coming for him, they are absolutely working.

Summer Survival: The Moisture Mission

ALRIGHT

Let's talk about the reality of living in the desert. The summer heat and wind are officially out here playing “moisture thief” with our hair, leaving it dry, brittle and totally stripped. And don't even get me started on those pool days or quick trips to the lake or SoCal Beaches.

If you don't know already, I am completely obsessed with the Milbon line. It doesn't just coat your hair to make it fake shiney for 24 hours, but it actually repairs the strands from the inside out. Right now I am seriously loving our Moisture Treatments at the back bar.

It's a total hydration reset.

To make sure your strands survive the summer: I am taking 25% off the treatment price though the month of July! You can add it onto your regular custom color or lived-in service or book it as a quick stand alone hydration reset.

Let's lock in that moisture before the Vegas sun does its worse.

Taking the Mission Home: Home Hydration Tips.

A back bar treatment is magic but you can't ignore your hair the other 30 days of the month and expect it to stay flawless. If you want to keep your color vibrant and our ends from snapping, you need a home care routine that fights back against the elements.

  • The Ultimate Home Care VIP: Milbon Moisture Weekly Booster for the win. When you leave the salon after a moisture treatment don't forget your boosters. Using one of these little vials once a week completely locks in that salon grade hydration, sealing in the cuticle so the dry desert air can't suck out your color and moisture.

  • The Poolside Protective Shield: Before you jump into the pool, ocean, or lake rinse your hair with clean tap water first, then slather on a leave-in conditioner or a layer of the Milbon weightless moisture mist. Your hair is like a sponge - if it's already full of clean water and protective nutrients, it can't soak up all that harsh chlorine and drying salt.

  • Rock a “Clean Girl” Protective Style: Stop blasting your hair with blowdryers and hot tools when it's 100+ degrees outside unless absolutely necessary. Instead, embrace the natural air dry, a nice tidy top knot or sweet protective braid. Be sure to always apply your heat protectant - even without the hot tool use, remember we live in a blow dryer. Apply a hydrating leave-in and a tiny bit of hair oil to your mid lengths and ends, let that marinate all day. It will help keep your hair protected from the sun and wind, and will be a mini treatment for your strands while you run your errands.

Esthetician's Corner: Protecting Your Glow

A fun new segment to keep us all in the know about essential skin care featuring one of my favorite people,  @estiesophia over at Advanced Skin Care by Sophia.

A Quick Note on My Calendar (Out of the Salon)

Before we close, I need to share a quick studio update.

I am taking some time to recharge my own battery and will be completely out of the salon from June 27th to July 8th.

To really protect my peace and disconnect while I'm away, my phone will be on strict Do Not Disturb (DND). I won't be checking texts, calls, or DMs for scheduling. My calendar is fully loaded on the app, and spots are filling quickly once I am back. If you are looking for a specific date or time frame but aren't finding it in the booking app please use my waitlist as schedules shift all the time. I would hate for you to miss out. If you need a touch-up or want to secure your 25% off moisture reset before the August Grad trip please head straight to the app and lock it in!

As always, come as you are, protect your hair, and let’s make this summer beautiful. See you in the chair soon!
